UNT Health Science Center serves as title sponsor of Cowtown Marathon



The UNT Health Science Center is proud to be title sponsor for the annual Cowtown Marathon, set for Feb. 28 in Sundance Square. UNT Health, the Health Science Center's faculty physician practice, will sponsor a free health fair at 4-8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 27, in the medical tent at 4th and Main in Sundance Square.

The Cowtown is one of the largest multi-event road races in the country. The event also includes a half-marathon, 10K, 5K, Kids 5K and 50K ultra-marathon.  More information about the weekend's schedule of events, race registration and course maps can be found on the Cowtown Web site.


The UNT Health Science Center has been a presenting sponsor since the Cowtown began in 1979 when Dr. Robert Kaman, associate dean and director for the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at UNT Health Science Center, helped found the event. He continues to represent the Health Science Center on the Cowtown Board of Directors.

The event is also sponsored by Chase, HCA North Texas Affiliated Hospital, and various others. Contributors include Sundance Square, Dannon, New Balance, American Airlines, Coca-Cola, Dasani, Bell Helicopter, Blue Bell Creameries, Charles Cohen Jewelers, the City of Fort Worth, Fort Worth Fire and Police Departments, Fort Worth Running Company, Obim Fresh Cut Fruit, Salvation Army, Wrigley, Mahatma Rice, BioFreeze, Udder Cream, The Runner, NBMA 1865, Radio Disney, and others.

Please be aware that thousands of runners, spectators and volunteers who converge on the race site on race day morning may create traffic congestion downtown.
