Pregnancy and Parenting Resources, Support, and Accommodations
Overview
HSC is committed to compliance with Title IX and Texas state law, and to supporting the academic success of pregnant and parenting students. If you are a pregnant or parenting student who wishes to request reasonable related accommodations from the University, please submit the electronic form here, along with appropriate medical documentation, as soon as possible prior to the need for the accommodations. Students can learn more about their rights related to pregnancy and parenting by visiting the Pregnancy and Parenting for Students website: https://www.unthsc.edu/students/dsa/pregnancy-and-parenting-for-students/.
Additionally, questions can be directed to the Pregnancy and Parenting Liaison Officer (Dr. Emily Mire | Emily.Mire@unthsc.edu) or the Title IX Coordinator (TitleIX@unthsc.edu).
What kinds of support services and accommodations might be available?
Connection to support services may include information on: medical and behavioral health coverage; public benefits programs; parenting and childcare resources; employment assistance; and academic success strategies.
Examples of accommodations may include: excused absences; the ability to complete make-up work; extended time; provision of class materials; and the option to take a leave of absence.
Students must apply for accommodations through the Title IX Coordinator and Pregnancy and Parenting Liaison for HSC by completing the Pregnancy and Parenting form. Accommodations are not retroactive.

Tarrant County Child Care Management Services
Overview
Tarrant County Child Care Management Services (CCMS) is a program managed by Child Care Associates through a contract with the Workforce Development Board. CCMS provides subsidized child care to families in Tarrant County, Texas.

Care Team
Overview
HSC cares about our students’ success, not only academically, but emotionally and physically. Because of our commitment, we provide caring and confidential services across campus that respond to our students’ unique needs.
The mission of the Care Team is to:
– Provide non-clinical case management to assist students in connecting with resources on and off campus
– Contribute to healthier communities by assisting in protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the students and members of the HSC community.
– Foster student success.
– Provide a comprehensive response to students whose behavior is disruptive to themselves or the educational environment, or may be in violation of the Student Code of Conduct & Civility.
The Care Team often collaborates with other offices within the campus community. Other offices with similar purposes include the Division of Student Affairs, the Center for Academic Performance, and the HSC Police Department.
