Q&A with Christa Lo, associate dean, College of Health Professions
June 20, 2024 • CHP News
What drew you to HSC and why did you accept a faculty position here?
I was looking for a new opportunity to stretch myself and my brain. This position was open, and I was excited for the opportunity to work with Dr. Forister again, as we worked together clinically 25 years ago in Houston. HSC is doing exciting work, and during my interview, everyone was so kind and welcoming. It felt like a great fit and a great place to be a part of.
What are your favorite spots you have discovered on campus or in town?
Don Artemio and the Woodshed
What have you enjoyed most about your time here so far?
I haven’t gotten to spend much time in Fort Worth yet but I am very much looking forward to getting out onto the lakes. Colorado doesn’t have enough water!
Starting out as a new faculty member at HSC, what are your goals and what do you hope to accomplish during your time here?
I hope to build great relationships with the faculty and staff and allow them to flourish in their positions. Some of my goals include building a new faculty development program, offering ongoing knowledge-building sessions, and recognizing faculty success. I’m also excited to learn more about how I can best support our HSC programs and students.
What is something you would like for students or fellow faculty members to know about you?
I love an adventure, that’s why I’m here! Let’s go!
What are you reading or listening to right now?
I love music, (almost) everything from EDM to country. I’m also reading Atomic Habits, but it’s been a bit of a slow go with transitioning from Golden, Colorado to Fort Worth. I hope to get back into it very soon.
