Dr. Eun-Young (E.Y.) Mun, Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) College of Public Health, has been recognized as a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science (APS). The APS is a globally recognized organization committed to the advancement of scientific psychology across disciplinary and geographic borders. The APS comprises over 35,000 psychological researchers, scholars, practitioners, educators, administrators, and students from more than 80 countries. This prestigious honor is awarded to APS members who have made outstanding contributions to the science of psychology. Dr. Mun is a leading expert in the field of health behavior, with a focus on reducing alcohol use among young adults. Her research has been widely recognized for its innovative approaches and significant impact on public health policy and practice.
“Dr. Mun is an exceptional researcher and scholar, and we are proud to see her recognized by the APS as a Fellow,” said Dr. Shafik Dharamsi, Dean of the UNTHSC College of Public Health. “Her work has made a tremendous impact on the field of public health, and we look forward to seeing her continued contributions in the years to come.”
Dr. Mun joined the UNTHSC College of Public Health faculty in 2018. Her research focuses on developing effective interventions and evaluating them to promote healthy behaviors and prevent alcohol-related negative consequences among young adults. Dr. Mun has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and books, and has received numerous grants and awards for her research.
“Being recognized as a Fellow of the APS is a great honor, and I am grateful for this recognition of my work,” said Dr. Mun. “My research is driven by a deep commitment to improving the health of young adults, and I am proud to be able to contribute to this important mission through my work at the UNTHSC College of Public Health.” In addition to her research, Dr. Mun is a dedicated teacher and mentor, working closely with students at the UNTHSC College of Public Health to help prepare the next generation of public health leaders. She has also been a mentor and advisor to numerous early-career researchers.
Dr. Mun’s election as a Fellow of the APS is a testament to her contributions to public health. Her work has the potential to impact the lives of countless individuals, and her dedication to improving health outcomes is an inspiration to her colleagues and students at the UNTHSC College of Public Health.
