Cool Convenience: Core Labs Enhances Liquid Nitrogen Dewer Fill-Ups

Starting on November 1st, 2023, requests for liquid nitrogen dewer fill-ups will be channeled through the iLab service request platform overseen by Core Labs. This transition streamlines the process, eliminates paperwork, and enhances efficiency. Researchers can now request liquid nitrogen with a few clicks and reduce administrative burdens. Order tracking features provide transparency on the status of requests. Moreover, this shift towards a paperless workflow contributes to a more sustainable research environment. Core Labs will ensure that the pursuit of liquid nitrogen remains unhindered.

Introducing the Absolute Q Digital PCR System

Genomics Core has recently acquired the cutting-edge Absolute Q Digital PCR system, marking a significant advancement in our research capabilities. The addition of this state-of-the-art technology will revolutionize our ability to analyze and quantify nucleic acids with unparalleled precision and sensitivity. The Absolute Q Digital PCR system utilizes innovative digital PCR technology, enabling us to accurately detect and quantify rare mutations, copy number variations, and gene expression levels in a wide range of biological samples.

A comprehensive training session on the Absolute Q Digital PCR system will be held on June 20th. This training session aims to familiarize users with the instrument's operation, data analysis software, and best practices for experimental design and optimization.

Introducing an automated nucleic acid purification platform in the Genomics Core - KingFisher Duo Prime System. This state-of-the-art technology enables efficient extraction of DNA and RNA from various sample types with high purity and yield, streamlining workflows and reducing contamination risks. The system's versatility and automation capabilities enhance research capabilities, allowing for increased sample throughput and improved efficiency.

A comprehensive training session is scheduled for June 21st to equip researchers with the necessary skills to maximize the potential of the KingFisher Duo Prime System.

Dr. Taegun Kwon is joining the Genomics Core as its new manager starting Jan 17th, 2023. With a Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin and over 7 years of experience in the genomics field, Dr. Kwon brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the role. He is excited to be working closely with researchers in and around HSC to understand their needs and ensure that the Core is able to provide the necessary resources and expertise to support the innovative work.
