EduMed.org, a leader in connecting students with the best and most affordable degree programs in more than 70 medical and health fields, has named the College of Public Health at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth’s Master of Health Administration program as one of the best and most affordable online and campus programs in Texas. The College of Public Health’s MHA program is ranked as fourth best this year.
EduMed.org connects students with expert-driven information about education, training and financial aid opportunities in health care and medical support.
“Since 2012, our data science team has created annual rankings that highlight the nation’s top programs in these critical fields. This year, we’ve taken a step forward and put a greater emphasis on student outcomes and academic quality,” said Wes Harris, EduMed co-founder.
“With that,” he added, “I’m excited to share that The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth has been recognized as one of this year’s best institutions for students seeking a combination of quality and affordability, with strong campus and online learning components.”
HSC’s Master of Health Administration program is designed to help students grow as leaders affecting meaningful change, to impact health systems and outcomes, and to advance the health of communities. Created for early career and working professionals, HSC’s MHA program helps students advance their training while boosting their career trajectory. In addition to HSC’s full-time MHA cohort program, the MHA part-time online option allow students with at least two years of health care experience to balance education, career and life’s demands.
An MHA is one of the most popular and highly regarded paths to qualify for advanced managerial roles in the medical field. 100% of HSC’s MHA students are employed or continue their education in the field following graduation. HSC graduates excel in various professional roles that include executive management, project management, implementation leadership, consulting, operations, analyst positions (quality, financial, other) and more.
HSC’s MHA program is accredited by the prestigious Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education, the benchmark for both students and employers that ensures students are well prepared to lead in health care management. CAHME is the only organization recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation to grant accreditation to graduate programs in health care management.
“HSC’s MHA program is designed to prepare practicing and aspiring health care professionals and leaders to influence change and improve quality across the care continuum,” said Barton Gill, MHA, chair of Health Administration & Health Policy. “We transform lives, organizations and communities through health care leadership education and scholarship.”
Dr. Catherine Sembajwe-Reeves, MHA program director, said that she sees the success of HSC’s MHA program as “truly a team effort.”
“Our dedicated full-time and adjunct faculty are passionate about sharing their real-world experiences and constantly finding new, innovative ways to engage students in meaningful learning,” she noted.
“At the heart of our program are our students, whose diverse backgrounds and experiences weave together a rich tapestry of perspectives. This diversity not only strengthens the classroom environment but also fosters a dynamic, collaborative community that prepares students to thrive in the ever-evolving field of health care administration.”
Dr. Shafik Dharamsi, dean, said he also attributes a great deal of the MHA program’s success to the College of Public Health’s mission as a “socially accountable, community-centered and globally relevant college, dedicated to the prevention of disease and harm, elimination of health disparities and the promotion of health and equity at home and around the world.”
“Through our strategic plan – IMPACT 2030: Commitment to Community – we are focused on transforming lives and communities through health care leadership, education and scholarship, and our online MHA program is one of the ways we help students prepare to lead the public health and health care workforce of the future.”
In addition to HSC’s curriculum, the School of Public Health places a strong emphasis on providing students with outside opportunities and practice experiences within health organizations and related agencies, Dharamsi noted.
