AED Locations and Training

The Environmental Health & Safety support Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at the following locations: They are located in the passenger elevator lobbies on several floors unless indicated otherwise below:

1. Carl E. Everett Education and Administration (EAD) – levels 1, 2, 6, & 8 in the passenger elevator lobbies
2. Research and Education (RES) – level 3 in the passenger elevator lobbies
3. Gibson D. Lewis Library (LIB) – level 2 by the circulation desk
4. Health Pavilion (HP) – levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 near the passenger elevator lobbies and HP 5th floor is in room HP 555
5. Founders Activity Center (FAC) – level 1 near the office
6. Center for Bio Health (CBH) – level 3 in the passenger elevator lobby
7. Medical Education and Teaching (MET) – level 1 in the passenger elevator lobby
8. Facilities Management Bldg (FMB) – near the break room
9. Facilities Management Bldg (FMB) – in receiving area
10. Police Department – in the lobby
11. Interdisciplinary Research & Education Building (IREB) – Level 1,2,3,4 and 5 in the passenger elevator lobbies
12. Student Services Center (SSC) – Level 1 next to the fire extinguisher

The UNT Health Science Center Pharmacy provides Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED classes to medical providers. The Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine provides this training to students on a contract basis. Other students, faculty and staff wishing to learn CPR and/or the use of AEDs may seek training from the local chapter of the American Red Cross.

If you need to add a AED to an area the department requesting the equipment will need to purchase the AED & cabinet shown below. Before you purchase the equipment below please coordinate with facilities to make sure the cabinet can be installed at the desired location. Please note to be ADA compliant the cabinet cannot protrude more than 4″ out of the wall and the handle for the AED cannot be more then 4′ of the ground. Once installed Safety will monitor the AED once a month and replace pads and batteries as needed at no cost to the purchasing department.
