Abby Lodrigues, 4th Year PharmD Student at HSC

Abby Lodrigues

Fourth year student in the Pharmacy program

What is a fun fact about you?

I love spending time outside! During pharmacy school, I would make my friends have “outside time” whether it was taking study breaks outdoors, going on walks, or just enjoying lunch together when the weather was nice.

What is an identity you’re proud to share with others at HSC?

I am particularly proud of serving as the Executive President of the Pharmacy Student Government Association. This role allowed me to collaborate with an incredible team to advocate for the needs and interests of our pharmacy students effectively.

What attracted you to HSC?

I really appreciated the interprofessional opportunities offered at HSC and how welcoming the faculty were during my interview. Their enthusiasm and the comfortable atmosphere they created made the entire interview process an incredibly positive experience.

How have you gotten involved on campus?

I actively participated in the Pharmacy Student Government Association, the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.

If you could recommend students attend one campus activity or event, what would it be and why?

I highly recommend students attend our Pharmacy Week Cookout! This event is a favorite among students because it offers an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and participate in fun activities like our flag football game or dancing with friends to music from the DJ. Plus, there’s always free food, making it a fantastic way to come together and celebrate the pharmacy profession.

What advice would you give to a student who is looking to make the most of their time at HSC?

I strongly encourage getting involved in student organizations! At HSC, there is a wide variety of registered student organizations that offer invaluable opportunities to develop leadership skills, form meaningful connections, and grow both personally and professionally within a supportive community. Within the College of Pharmacy, we have organizations that cater to social, personal, and professional interests, ensuring there is truly something for everyone.

How has your HSC experience been so far?

My experience so far has been incredible. I’ve been fortunate to have mentors who continually challenge me to reach my full potential, providing guidance and support every step of the way. Additionally, the program has given me the opportunity to build lifelong friendships with my peers, creating a strong sense of community that has made this journey even more rewarding.

What are your plans after you finish at HSC?

I hope to match into a PGY-1 residency program in either Texas or the Carolinas, with the goal of pursuing a career as an ambulatory care pharmacist. Long-term, I also hope to teach at an academic institution and mentor pharmacy students, helping them navigate their personal and professional journeys.
