HOME Clinic
Homeless Outreach through Medical Education
HOME is a student-run, bi-monthly clinic that serves the homeless community of Fort Worth. Every aspect of HOME is student-run, from planning to execution. Everything we do for the clinic is a labor of love and done with the needs of the community we serve in mind. We provide free health screenings and partner with other community agencies to provide additional services, including HIV screenings, dental, and vision services. At each visit, we also provide a variety of hygiene products for the men and women we serve and during the colder months, we also offer scarves, hats, gloves, and socks.
Who do we serve?
HOME events serve homeless men, women, and occasionally children in the East Lancaster area of Fort Worth. East Lancaster is where the majority of the homeless shelters and outreach agencies that serve our community are located.
These clinics allow students the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of patients in the East Lancaster area and educate young doctors in training about the realities of homelessness.
When are events?
HOME is held twice a month. Prospective dates for Fall 2025 are August 9, August 23, September 6, September 20, October 4, October 18, November 1 and November 15.
How can I get involved?
If you would like to volunteer, you can sign up for a spot once the HOME Clinic Sign-up email is sent at 6 pm on the Wednesday before that clinic date. There will typically be 5 spots for first years and 5 spots for second years; however, this may vary depending on the capacity of our clinic location. There are always a limited number of spots for upperclassmen as well. If you are unable to obtain a spot for a particular date, there will be a waitlist section to place your name. Those who are waitlisted will have first choice for the next clinic date.
We are also delighted to announce that we have been incorporating other students from different schools at UNT Health to promote inter-professional education.
