Denton transplant and flutist, Roger Michael Hoverson is an active flute teacher, teaching for both Celina (2016-present) and Krum (2018-present) ISDs. In Spring 2018, he was the flutist in the chamber orchestra for the University of North Texas Opera’s production of Gounod’s Faust and was active in chamber music ensembles at the University of North Texas in 2017-18.

Originally from Oklahoma, Mr. Hoverson enjoyed a varied musical career there as a teacher for the Northeastern State University’s Community Music Academy, an active chamber musician, soloist, and winner of the 2014-15 Northeastern State University’s Concerto Competition, as well as the OMTA Collegiate Woodwind Competition in 2014. He attended the International Orfeo Music Festival in 2015 shortly after completing his BA at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK., where he studied with Dr. Patricia Surman.

Mr. Hoverson is also an avid practitioner of Pilates and became a Balanced Body Pilates Instructor in 2017. He currently teaches Pilates at several locations in the greater Denton area and is keenly interested in how the Pilates method can assist musicians in both preventing and recovering from injuries. In addition, he also is interested in researching and applying how to best educate and instruct young musicians regarding their unique occupational health.

Mr. Hoverson is pursuing a Master’s Degree at the University of North Texas and is a student of Dr. Mary Karen Clardy.
